Strawberry Blast Success and Wounded Warrior Donation

Hello Everyone

Thanks for another great shoot at Vernon National. There were many new faces and we more than doubled the number of NSCA shooters in our second registered event. Let's keep the monthly shoots growing, the more the merrier. For those not sure; you do not have to be a registered shooter to enjoy our registered events, they are run just like our regular fun shoots. Attached are the scores and payouts from the 2nd Annual Strawberry Blast. If you were not present for the awards and payouts let me know if you want your prizes mailed or saved at the club for your next visit.

A special thanks to Dickson Perez and Ramon Perez for driving all the way from New Jersey to accept the donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. The event generated $6,150 in its first year and we are preparing for next year already. Hope your ride home was a little easier than the ride to VNSP in the morning.

See everyone soon,
-Jason

The Wounded Warrior Project Shoot was a Success!

Hello Everyone,

I will start by saying thank you to every single person, family member, friend, shooter, member, organization, business and company that donated their time, products and hearts. VNSP could not have done this without your help. Our number one goal was to raise funds for a great organization called the Wounded Warrior Project. In addition, we wanted to build awareness of the organization and the great things they do for our service men and women. My personal goal from day one was to raise at least five thousand dollars. Thanks to everyone's help we exceeded my goal and raised more than six thousand dollars!!! We are currently scheduling a date with the Wounded Warrior Project to present the donation to them. Tentatively, we are planning on June 21st, as this is the day of our next event at VNSP, a 100 bird shoot. I will let everyone know the date and time for the presentation as soon as it is finalized.

The 1st annual event was a great success. It was a pleasure meeting the great veterans that attended the event as well as other new shooters to VNSP. Thank you to Senator Griffo and County Executive Picente for taking the time to join us well. Thanks to the veterans that assisted us in the 21 gun salute. Thank you to News 10 Now for their coverage of the event.

I for one can't wait for next year and many others have asked to participate again already. Our goals for next year are to increase the donation and to improve upon the overall organization of the event. I also want to thank everyone for their kind comments and constructive feedback which will help us to achieve our goals.

See everyone soon,
-Jason

A Message from Ron to Pheasant Members and potential new members

We had a great season last year up until December when winter started.
I hope everyone had plenty of hunting and opportunities to harvest birds. For those struggling to hit the birds last season, come join us on the clays course for "Ron's $1 Clinic"!!! Losing a dollar in the clinic sure improves your shooting or you can pay a dollar per missed bird which will work too.

The Membership seemed to work well last year with very few hitches. We will continue to limit the number of members. Keeping cost down while continuing to make improvements will always be our goal. The covers will be planted again, hopefully earlier then last year, with possibly more land being rented. As we grow and new members join we will have to implement a few new rules for everyone’s safety and enjoyment. All changes will be emailed and posted at the club. Please send us any comments, suggestions, or concerns you might have.

At this time we are staying with the 50 birds per member release from early October to mid December, depending on the weather. This worked well last year and there were always plenty of birds all over the property. Join early to beat any fee increase there may be. Renew your membership or join by June 1st and the price will be the same as last year and you will receive 10 birds released on request. After June 1st the dues will increase by $200.00; plus any bird cost increases with no exceptions. We haven't yet received the bird price for next year but anticipate costs remaining the same. Please send any balances due from the past season for extra birds, guests or other additional fees.

Remember by becoming a Pheasant Member you also receive a clays membership. Check the web site (vernonnational.com) periodically for upcoming events. We are planning to remodel part of the barn for increased clubhouse space. Any donations to this project would be appreciated. A receipt for tax purposes, which we can all use these days, will be supplied.

Let's all look forward to another FUN and MOST IMPORTANT SAFE YEAR!

Thanks to all from VNSP

VNSP News Feb 2009

Well it was a busy weekend at VNSP with pheasants flying, clays breaking and the wonderful sound of gun fire. Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy the club on a pretty nice February weekend.

The Second Chance Sporting Clays shoot was a great time, especially since I made it out to shoot this time. A big thanks to Caryn for the great soup and chili, and for taking care of lunch and the club house this weekend. Also thanks to Ron, Sam, Tom, Hap, Jeff and Simon for your help getting the course ready and maintaining it over the weekend. Attached is a list of the results. Hope everyone who attended had a great time.

As mentioned previously every second Saturday through October, with the exception of June (3rd Saturday), will be a shoot at VNSP. Details for each month will be sent out prior to the shoots. I am having all the dates posted to the website now, each marked ?Details TBD?. The next event will be March 14th, The March Mayhem. We will also plan other events through the summer. Have an idea for a shoot you would like to see set up, let me know and we will see what we can do.

Our big project in the works is the Wounded Warrior Project Benefit Shoot. We have confirmed the date which is May 24th (Sunday of Memorial Weekend). Mark your calendars now; this is an event you will not want to miss. All the specifics are in the works. We will post information as soon as more is set in stone. The plan at this point is for a 100 bird shoot with two flight times, prizes, auctions, raffles and side games with donations going to a great cause. Attached is a draft copy of the information, not all the information is final.
Pre-registration will be a big help and I will let everyone know when we are ready to start accepting registrations. Anyone wishing to help with this event in any way shape or form please let me know. All help will be greatly appreciated.
